1) This model produces higher resolution images, and future version of the app will increase the size of images.

2) This model has more variation. Many users commented that some styles, especially styles like modern, lacked variability from image to image. For example, the old AI model consistently produced very similar white themed modern styles. The new model should have much more variation from image to image, including more colors and different materials.

3) The new model has better text understanding. The old model tended to suffer from “color bleeding” so if you said “modern kitchen, navy blue cabinets” it would sometimes make the floor blue and refrigerator blue also. The new model has a better text understanding so saying things like “a beautiful modern kitchen, navy blue cabinets, white granite countertops, stainless steel refrigerator and oven” is more likely to produce the correct results. This allows for far more creativity in the custom styling so that you can further narrow down on exactly the style you want.

Many users have been requesting more capabilities for exterior remodels, so we’re happy to provide this landscaping specific tool to assist with visualizing new landscaping.

It works very similarly to some of the other tools. Simply choose a starting photo, then paint (mask) the area you wish to replace with new landscaping.

Finally select the desired style of landscaping and press generate. There are several popular landscaping styles preconfigured, but custom styles are also possible using the “Custom Style” prompts.

Current the AI model knows these preconfigured landscaping styles:

• California Native
• Coastal
• Desert
• English Garden
• French
• Japanese Garden
• Mediterranean
• Southwest
• Spanish
• Tropical
• Tuscan
• Woodland
• Xeriscape

If you have other styles you’d like to see please jump in our discord and let us know!

A few tips:

1. This tool easily combines with the existing tools, so you can do a full exterior remodel and then explore new types of landscaping or vice versa
2. You can repeat this process as many times as you like. If you like 90% of the landscaping, just save the image, and then try to “re-landscape” the 10% you didn’t like.
3. Make sure when masking that you cover all the areas you’d like to see changed. The remainder of the image will serve as context for the AI to make a sensible image. If you leave a tropical plant unmasked and request the AI to do desert landscaping, it may struggle as the AI knows that tropical plants don’t do well in desert landscapes and the image is a bit.

Tyler Bouldin and his wife document their renovation on TikTok. 

• My wife and I bought an old home in the middle of nowhere Pennsylvania in 2020.
• Since then, we’ve been using AI for interior design ideas as we renovate the fixer-upper.
• It saved us the expense of hiring a pro decorator — but it also helped in an unexpected way.

This as-told-to essay is based on a conversation with 32-year-old Pennsylvania resident Tyler Bouldin, who bought a house in rural Pennsylvania with his wife three years ago. The couple used to live 10 minutes outside of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, but now is 45 minutes from the nearest town. This essay has been edited for length and clarity.

We purchased the house three years ago at an auction after it had been owned by the state for like 10 years. I think everybody reacted to Covid quarantine in weird ways, and I impulse-bought a house for about $460,000.

We really wanted something that was kind of in the country, had a little more land, and a little bit of elbow room. We weren’t necessarily looking for a renovation project or an old house. 

It’s about 6,000 square feet, six bedrooms, five bathrooms, and it sits on about five acres. We’ve been working on the house pretty much since we purchased it. 

I always say we’re three years into a one year renovation. We were like, “OK, you know, we’re gonna do this thing in a year.” That is not how it’s panned out. 

We’ve been using artificial intelligence — specifically the RemodelAI app — for things like wallpaper and tile. I find it does a really good job if you’re looking to overlay paint wallpaper, tile flooring — like you want to change either the color or the type of material that’s on a surface.
